A doctor is pioneering the use of music therapy to treat  a variety of disabilities and ailments in Syria.

How did the idea of the exhibition come about?

Buthayna Ali's newest installation (2009) entitled I’m Ashamed, consists of an entire room filled with 700 small (12 x 20 cm; 5 x 8 ins.) black-and-white photographs, printed on plastic, that are hanged suspended from the ceiling in rows that starts high at the front of the room and slope down to the floor at the back.

Tucked away in the narrow alleys of Old Damascus, Tell Al-Hejara is a historic area with beautiful ancient Arab houses. It is neglected though with many houses starting to collapse. We gathered in five of the major squares and public parks of Damascus and painted murals with environmental themes, inviting passersby to participate. The Murals were exhibited for 6 weeks in the streets of Damascus during September and the beginning of October 2005.
